OVER ALL, I learned, eat and had fun with my group of kids in the SPORTS SUMMER CAMP (Ican). Sometimes, there was a time that I wanted to relax and take a break. Unfortunately that didn't happen because I was fighting with my mind and I was trying to stay as active as I could... Again this job is an opportunity for young adults to learn about not only one or two kids, but to manage a huge group of kids. Most likely, I don't even conceder this as a job... you don't even need to work.... you just need to share your knowledge and skills for the kids.

I have learnt that when it came to camp there will be good times and bad times. Overall, I just have to make sure everyone is having fun. Cause if there was no fun then there was chaos. From working in a camp setting I have learnt how to capture a childs attention differently than a teenagers. All I had to do was find something that would grasp their attention. so far the beginning of week 5 has been great and I hope it ends well.

Ciao for now

I've learned that before you can take care of the kids, you have to take care of yourself, by eating right, and getting enough SLEEP. When i go in tired, i have horrible days, and have no one to blame but myself.

Everyone is different! Different people like COMPLETELY different things and dislike different things as well. We're all unique, from our personalities to our varying levels of wackiness!

It is also important to be aware of the days on which our supervisors are coming in to check on us and to be punctual on those days!

This summer while working at a sports camp, I learned that working with kids at a camp is one of the best jobs that young adults can have. You are able to share your knowledge and expertise with kids who will take what they learn and teach other kids in the future. I learned that this job is not always easy! Controlling over 100 kids IS a huge challenge and I learned that it is important to keep up with the kids until the end of the day and keep them entertained. I have been told that we, as councillors are being monitored everday, not only by our supervisors but most importantly, by the children who look up to us and follow our actions. Professionalism was a term that was stressed throughout training and work by my monitor and supervisor. Every week at camp is different and routine often changes. One must learn how to adjust and adapt to changes and solve problems very quickly because there will be sticky situations at camp. Sometimes I had to breka up fights and also think up of activities on teh spot for the kids to do. I take everything I learned from my job and from the FOYT program to heart and I made plenttttyyy of mistakes but I learned from them. This is all bout experience and I hope you all had good ones and learned from bad ones :) Peace!

first off i will like to thank "Foucs on Youht" for the opporunity, this was my fisrt job and i mean many youg people frist jobs or not as amazing as this. what i have learned about my self was that with confidence you can over come the world.I mean it was hard to do at first because i am the kind of person who at times at look at the bad than the good in life, and with my confidence i was able to learned a lot more about my self this summer and i learned about a culture that i did not know much about, because i was in a camp where there were a lot of muslism, and i was the only black person, and many people in the camp made it clear, however, i stood tall and i showed everyone that we are one, people and one in unity, and it does not matter the color of your skin as long as you love your self the way you love others.Overall, the camp is an amazing place to be just a great success, and the childeren are so amazing, they have their moments, however because of the skills i have learned in focus on youth i was able teach these young people about conflict mediation.I am thankful for Foucs on youth becuase this summer i would have been nothing with my summer.
THANK YOU FOUCS ON YOUTH,CONTINUE TO ENPOWER YOUNG PEOPLES LIVES...

Week 5 and 6 was a good week and also a sad week that it has to end, but anyways after working with these kids i've realized the potential they have and that as a mentor myself have so much influence on them. As a mentor my every movement is being analyzed and influencing by every mentee. In doing so i've learned that i have to take advantage to teach them as much positive influence as possible, and by the end of the day i think i have done a great job as a mentor.

Over these past few weeks, I've learned how extremely important it is to carry yourself in a respectable manner and to always watch and think about what you are about to say, especially in front of little kids, because they will hold you up to whatever you have said. The kids that we work with look up to us as important role models in their community and it becomes so important to us because we owe it to ourselves to become better people not only for ourselves, but for these kids, so that these kids have some hope for a better and brighter future.

overall I learned a lot from this work. It was not just a job for me, it was also a life experience for me. I took many lessons from this job, I saw how kids like to have fun, how they think positive about their world, and how their hopes are strong. How they play with all their passion. this job was a huge opportunity for me to meet new people, and to give a push to the front. This summer is a great one. I like to say thank you to everyone who helped through this and I like to thank the kids too.

This was my first summer working with focus on youth. It was great & the kids were wonderful. While working with them I learned how to have more patience & how to communicate with them better.I also learned that each & everyone of them are special in their own little way. I had lots of fun playing sports with them & helping them when they needed the help.I had many fun times as well as bad times. I hope the kids had a great summer & keep following the right path.
