My favourite part of my placement has to be the kids. Each of them is so different. And with their contrasting personalities, we're always laughing! So that has to be the best part.

I highly dislike the area I am working around though...bunch of creeps!

The best part of this whole experience has got to be the KIDS.
I think (as cheesy as it may sound to some), if this is not a job, I'd still volunteer and want to do this again with them.
Though they're so active and sometimes stubborn, they just make me feel accomplished and happy at the end of the day.

Working with the kids....its been so much FUN! even though they don't listen sometimes....I can't be angry at them! I just don't like when some workers don't pull there share!!!

the ebst part of my job is probably the theatre aspect of it.
I have a camp that focuses on Peace and its importance in the community. So we have a play called Hero Under construction on Saturday-as in Tomorrow. and we had a 'Peace is Possible' parade along the Danfoth Road today.. that was a blast too!
So the best part is the acting and the managing of the stage and the direction of the play!:)

woot woot Focus on Youth!

My placement is amazing. At camp Y.A.A.A.C.E there are a variety of different fun activities for the campers and staff to be a part of. There range from “Steel pan” where we have a professional pannist who comes in to teach the campers how to play various songs old and new. Also at camp Y.A.A.A.C.E we are partnered with Seneca @ York, there we learn how to use computers, video cameras, video editing and display our acting skills. All of these activities that camp Y.A.A.A.C.E has to offer are great because it is subconsciously re-enforcing the possibility and capability of these young bright minds have as it relates to post-secondary education and the future life goals in general. Another component of Camp Y.A.A.A.C.E is the basketball component, which a lot of the kids are here for. From the camp we select some campers who exhibit good qualities to be a part of our various OBA teams. Camp Y.A.A.A.C.E IS A GREAT PLACE TO BE ... YOU SHOULD COME CHECK IT OUT. THIS EXPERINCE HAS AND WILL CONTUNIE TO BE LIVE CHNAGING.... THE BEST PART ABOUT IT IS IT NOT OVER YET.!!!!

Random I know but I just want to point out a few things about the coordinator. If you put aside all his antics and his whole “goof ball“demeanour he is a real human being. I mean we don’t come across many people who will look at you for you and not for what you’re wearing or how you speak. There are not a lot of people who take you for who you are. Plain in truth he takes everything!

What I mean by that is he’s so real that you don’t even notice how real he is. Am I making sense yet? He has an amazing spirit we all know that but he is such a genuine character. Aside from that it is his honesty and his optimism that I truly admire. At some points in our lives we are going to need a spark or a type of positive energy around us. That energy alone can uplift and help shape the people who we will become or who we want to become.

Thanks for being an innovative thinker but above all thank you for being the energy I badly needed.

My favourite part of the program is definitely the kids and being able to be with different kids each day. Even though you have that awkward first time meeting feeling, its fun because you find different ways to get along with different kids and at the same time educate them on disabilities and that people with them are just like everyone else.

I am glad I was chosen to be apart of focus on youth. Through focus on youth I had my first job. The experiences I am having is great! Thank you focus on youth and I hope next year more students will get to have, even better experiences than I had. Keep up the good work.

My favourite part has to be Yuido (a child's name who is in my group) Yuido has taught me patience along with all the other things that are needed to know when working with a child like himself. I love all my kids, and will feel really upset when they take off on the 15th. But I guess there is always an end to everything, and sometimes the ending ca just be a new beginning.

Thanks, TDSB and iCAN
